Former TAUS Leader Profiles

Former National TAUS Leaders

Michael Mwasumbi

Ex-President of TAUS, Inc.

As president, I develop and implement TAUS vision and run all activities according to guidelines set out in our constitution. My biggest dream is to see all projects that TAUS started and plan to start achieving their primary objective of bringing hope to Millions of people who live without hope, whilst directing to the true hope of us all the soon return of Jesus Christ our Lord.

I attended undergraduate studies at Oakwood University, Huntsville Alabama graduating in 2001 and Masters at Middle Tennessee school of Anesthesia, Madison Tennessee graduating in 2004. I am currently working in the field of obstetric anesthesia. I am married to former Esther Kutebwa and we are blessed with three children: Michelle, Monique and Michael Jr.

My favorite text is: Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Shukrani Magoma1

Ex-Secretary General of TAUS, Inc.

As secretary General, I perform executive duties including coordinating TAUS meetings and other activities, informing all members of TAUS decisions and plans, ensure TAUS and its members comply with relevant US legislations, TAUS constitution and agreed upon bylaws. Having the second highest position in the organization, I also serve as interim president in the absence of the president.

I am married to Adelaida Kusaga Magoma and blessed with four children- 2 boys and 2 girls. I am a deputy Accounting manager for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and live in Maryland. Before becoming TAUS Secretary General in July 2016, I was President of the Mid-Atlantic TAUS chapter from 2012-16.

My loving God has touched me in so many ways. One of the most memorable event happened in mid-2000, when I was attacked at gunpoint in Washington DC. My attackers put a gun on my head and dragged me to a dark alley. I was scared to death that night and quietly prayed to my loving God to save my life and He faithfully did so. I always think of that night as an example of how good God has been to me even though I am an imperfect person.

Jane Enoch

Ex-Treasurer of TAUS, Inc.

As a Treasurer, my duties and responsibilities to oversee the management of the financial affairs of the organization. This including maintaining all accurate records of all receipts and disbursement of funds, and financial reports.

My biggest dream for TAUS is to spread and share the word of God. We are all working together for one purpose to do his work (Kufanya kazi ya Mungu).

I was born and raised in Arusha, Tanzania in a Seventh day Adventist home which makes me a 3rd generation Adventist. I graduated 12th grade at Spicer Memorial high School in Puna, India. I enjoyed living in India; the experience brought a different perspective about life and their culture. I moved to the United States in 1997. I am happily married with two beautiful children (boy and girl).

We have to keep the trust in the Lord, that’s why I like this verse from Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”.

Upendo Mbwana

Ex-Director of Youth & Young Adults

I pray that God continue to use TAUS to touch the unreached areas of Tanzania, bringing to them the good news of salvation, education and physical relief. As a young Adventist, my dream is to use the information technology to inspire all TAUS members – especially the youth – to serve the Lord.

My college – Washington Adventist University –had a mission trip to Tanzania in 2015 and I seized the opportunity to go serve my home country. I was excited but was nervous because we were going to teach Vocational Bible School (VBS) – something which I’d never done before. But when God calls, He enables and equips the called (Exodus 6:29-30;7:1-2). God took control of nervousness and the kids were so excited about the few crafts, activities and puppet shows we had brought with us. Watching them become so eager to come back the next day warmed my heart and I truly felt that I was more blessed by this experience than the kids were. Being able to offer the little you have, expecting nothing in return, brought me great joy and satisfaction, plus I got to see the results of God working through me. This is the kind of blessing I have experienced from time to time since becoming a member of TAUS.
