Supporting Health Services & Education
TAUS, Inc. is working to support health services and health education for the people of Tanzania.
Southern Tanzania has the highest poverty rate and poorest health services in the country. TAUS is fundraising to support provision of health services Tanzania where they are needed most.
TAUS also plan to provide health education through the radio and other outlets.
TAUS Supports Mtwara Adventist Dispensary Prenatal and Postnatal Care
There has been an increase in the health facilities and services shortage in the Southern Tanzania zone in general and Mtwara Municipality in particular. Mtwara municipality population is expected to increase faster in the coming years due to industrial expansion.
One of the most important needs for upgrading MAD to a Health Center was to build a Labor Ward to serve the growing demand for prenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care at MAD.
TAUS stepped in to provide financial support to renovate and expand an old building, which has seen its best days. The renovation is complete, and the new labor ward has started offering its services in a larger and cleaner space. The patients are happy to see their health service facility getting a facelift.
TAUS Restoring Hope and Healing at Heri Adventist Hospital
For over 70 years, Heri Adventist Hospital has served as a sanctuary for the stigmatized and a beacon of hope for the remote communities of Western Tanzania. Originally established as a refuge for those suffering from leprosy, the hospital has evolved into a vital medical hub, providing life-saving healthcare, nursing education, and spiritual outreach to thousands of families and refugees in the Kigoma region.
TAUS is proud to partner with Heri Hospital to ensure this legacy of compassion continues. Most recently, we joined forces to bridge a critical funding gap for a new maternity wing. By expanding the hospital’s capacity from nine to 30 beds, this project significantly reduces maternal and neonatal mortality rates, providing a safe place for mothers to bring new life into the world.
