Dr. Maria Mosomi is a Board-Certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner focused on comprehensive patient-centric care.
She has over 10 years of nursing experience in psychiatry and neuro/telemetry focused on stroke and neurological issues and has worked for over 7 years helping chronic and acute patients in private and state outpatient psychiatric clinics.
Dr. Maria has more than 6 years of experience as a Graduate Nursing Clinical Education Specialist and serves as a Preceptor for the University of Texas Arlington and Walden University.
As an entrepreneur, Dr. Maria is the founder and CEO of Texas Advance Behavioral Health a private psychiatric clinic in Arlington, Texas. In 2019 she received her Doctoral of Nursing Practice with a focus on Healthcare Systems Leadership from Chamberlain University. She received her Master of Nursing from the University of Arlington, Texas in 2012 with a Specialization as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from San Jose State University in 2007.
Having served as a Supportive Employment Job Coach for 4 years Dr. Maria provided support to employees with a wide range of mental and physical disabilities at their workplace. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association.
In addition to her many accolades, she has done several presentations including the Quality Healthcare Solutions and Consulting on “Mental Health During COVID-19” and The Black Women’s Wall Street, Inc. (nonprofit) BWWS Podcast on “The Importance of Mental Health” in 2020 as well as the East Africa Chamber of Commerce Conference in 2019. Dr. Maria has also earned a few Awards and Honors including the University of Texas, Arlington Clinical Honor Award in 2012. She is passionate about community engagement and has volunteered for a few organizations including serving a term as the Assistant Secretary of the Tanzanians in Dallas.
Dr. Mosomi is a mental and behavioral health educator who loves God, is a community empowerment activist, leadership enthusiast, loves music and dancing, is Momma to her son Leon, and is a huge fan of any kind of cheesecake!
